Dear designers and gemstone lovers,
In this edition, we would like to introduce you to a gemstone that stands for elegance, subtlety and passion: the Morganite.
This magnificent gemstone belongs to the Beryl family. In the world of gemmology, this group of beryllium silicates is no stranger. This Beryl family also includes other well-known varieties such as Aquamarine, Heliodor, green Beryl and Emerald.
The Morganite gets its name from the famous banker J.P. Morgan, a passionate collector of gemstones and client of gemologist G.F. Kunz. After the discovery of this gem in Madagascar in 1910, Mr. Kunz suggested that the gemstone be named after his dear friend and financier in New York. The name has remained unchanged, as has the gemstone's enchanting splendor....
Morganite is distinguished by its soft, pink pastel shades. Color variations range from salmon pink to an intense fuchsia pink. Although the Morganite is mostly known in light shades, rare specimens exist with much more intense color. The rare Morganites with a pure pink color and high intensity are most prized by designers and gem enthusiasts.
Today, the highest quality Morganite still comes from Madagascar. Another important source is the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, where Brieuc travels several times a year to discover the most beautiful rough gems.
Morganite is often used in contemporary jewelry that lends itself perfectly to daily wear, on the other hand, Morganite also shines in the most sophisticated jewelry. Its soft and elegant color makes it an indispensable gemstone in any collection.
At Taymans Fine Gems, we offer a wide range of Morganites in different shades, sizes and shapes. We are happy to guide you in choosing the gemstones that perfectly match the DNA of your jewelry.
Be inspired by the timeless beauty of the Morganite and add a touch of sophistication to your next creation.
